It's 5! (Pt 1)

Shit, well its 12am and I have to write this up and be places around nine tomorrow. I've been going to sleep at 3-4am and waking up at 1-2pm for the past couple nights. Efffffff.

1 Wristcutters: A Love Story
2 Rushmore
3 Avatar
4 Inglorious Bastards
5 500 Days Of Summer

All the above were fantastic, in their own ways. The only movie I don't recommend is one called Happenstance which I rented because it had Audrey Tatuo (Amelie) in it, and it sucked; she was in it like 5 times throughout the entire deal. Anyways...

So, let's begin. I've been meaning to watch Wristcutters in the past many times. I've actually rented this before but never watched it. The takes place in a, lets call it, "second earth", where people who commit suicides go. There aren't any happy things in this place and no one knows who's in charge. Our main character Zia (a guy) is a perfectly average looking fellow, and he kills himself by slitting his wrists, landing him in this second world. Here he meets Eugene and Mikal (girl, pronounced me-call).

Upon discovering that his ex-girlfriend also killed herself, Zia embarks the land in search of her. Eugene's story is interesting because his family did a "chain suicide" meaning each of their death's happened because of the others, so they live in the second world more happily then they did in the real world. Throughout the story Mikal is trying to find the man in charge, because her death was an accident, but I won't go into detail on that.

I found this movie to be really creative and down to earth. I liked it A LOT. Throughout their embarking, I liked how it would show clips of how the people they met died. Each character had really likable qualities that blended together well so that the mood and style weren't thrown off. The concepts weren't too abstract and things kinda just workout for a really heart-warming ending. I Highly recommend it.

Moving on, the next movie is Rushmore, which I've seen TWICE since renting it. I normally wouldn't watch a rented movie more then once but I liked it so much (yeah it kinda looks like I like all the movies that I watch but it's just a coincidence that I'm watching so many good movies). Think of this movie as another Charlie Bartlett. The main character, Max Fischer (The Darjeeling Limited) is a determined high school over-achiever, who excels at extracurriculars and fails academically. He falls in love with a teacher and spend the the rest of the movie trying to win her over. This sounds wrong I know, but....well it is. But if you've seen other Wes Anderson movies, Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Royal Tenenbaums, I think you would appreciate this movie for the similar style it holds with the movies listed. Max's character is just straight-up awesome in my opinion; kinda like a male Juno Mcguff, with slightly different traits. He sets himself in complete control, being strictly business like and very polite. It's funny, VERY clever, and incredibility well-directed, not to mention it has a sweet soundtrack.

At this point I'm kind of rushing this because I don't want to be up all night. If you want details, go a head and message me on facebook or something. I'm just here to give you the gist of things :)

AVATAR - Badass movie. Especially in 3-D. I cant really even begin to describe the greatness of this film. 12 years in the making; new technology invented for it's enhancement; visually orgasmic; matix-star wars-enders game-poccahontis all combined; premium battle scenes. You get the idea. Watch it.

To be continued for a day that I'm not so tired...
